A Celebration of Croatian Culture & Heritage
Welcome to CroatiaFest 2011: “Taste of Croatia”. This year's event will be held in a new venue, the Exhibition Hall at the Seattle Center and will feature exclusively Croatian food booths, a wine and beer garden and continuous live performances on the main stage. In addition to the wonderful music, dance and food that make our culture so unique, there will be food demonstrations and vendors selling your favorite Croatian merchandise.
The popular Display panels will showcase a local "Taste of Croatia" from the past and present. The Art Gallery, Geneology and Croatian Travel Booths will return as well.

Food Demonstrations
Always a highlight of CroatiaFest programming are the food demonstrations.
By popular demand, Venko Lisica will again delight the audience with another traditional Dalmatian fish dish. He will show you how to assemble Hobotnica na Salatu (Octopus salad).
Sisters Alenka Dunatov, Rose Žampera and Neva Dominis will demonstrate the art of frying Fritule While Alenka prepares and mixes the yeast dough you can watch her sisters as they demonstrate the traditional way to form and fry the Fritule.
Njoki (gnocchi) preparation will be demonstrated by the brother – sister team of John Vukas and Zita Petričić who will be joined by their mother Milenka Vukas. You will experience the fine art of preparing and shaping Njoki. John promises a “special” sauce to go with the Njoki.
Samples of each of the demonstrated dishes will be available after each presentation. Don’t miss this fun and informative event.

Barbara Starkey returns to CroatiaFest
Get help researching your family's Croatian heritage
Barbara Starkey will be returning again this year to answer your questions about family history research. A private consultant helping hundreds of clients develop their family pedigrees, Barbara has expertise in US immigration and naturalization records. If you have the name of the village or city in Croatia that your family came from, she can probably help you with your research.

Sinovi of Chicago Headline CroatiaFest 2011

Sinovi of Chicago, Illinois will headline the main stage entertainment and Saturday night dance party for CroatiaFest 2011. The group, formed in 1978, is comprised of Steve Kirin, Joe Gornick, Nick Gornick, Toma Vucinic and Mark Oreskovich. Three members of the orchestra performed with the famed Duquesne University Tamburitza Orchestra and Dance Ensemble of Pittsburgh, PA. This very popular orchestra will perform traditional Croatian music as well as some original signature songs that are bound to entertain you. Watch for more details and scheduling to come.
