LONDON ŠTANGLE

Bottom Layer                        Filling                         Toppings

3 egg yolks                             2/3 cup jam           3 egg whites

½ cup sugar                                                        1 cup sugar

2/3 cup butter                                                      1 ½ cup chopped walnuts

2 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

 

Preheat oven to 350.  Grease and flour a 9x13 pan.

Cream butter and sugar.  Mix in egg yolks and baking soda. Add the flour and beat until combined.  Spread the dough in the pan.  And top with the jam.

Beat the egg whites to stiff peaks, add sugar and spread on top of the jam.  Sprinkle with the walnuts and bake for 25-30 minutes.  Cool completely, cut and serve.
